Throughout this week we have gone to the river several times to practice leveling and reading the dumpy/staff. using the level you start by getting it out and setting it up. to set up level set the legs to the right height for you, then screw the top part on correctly by getting the 3 nobs you use to change the focus and getting them in line with the 3 legs of the tripod. then once ready to focus use two of the 3 nobs to bring little bubble into the circle and the 3rd nob to get it perfectly center. then look through the zoom to rea the height level on staff. we also set up the profiles and the string lines for a house that was 15.5m by 7.2m as practice. we started by putting in the pegs in to the ground then bracing them up and then after that we put on the horizontal batter boards by nailing them in. the outside line foundation wall was 900mm out from the pegs. then we used a stringline going straight and horizontal to read weather we got the messurements correct or not.
